TOUCH SCREENS:

The user touches the screen with his or her finger to select commands or otherwise provide input to the computer associated with the touch screen.

Consumer Kiosks containing touch screens are found in a variety of locations----retail houses,movies,courthouses,hotels,etc.,
Depending on the technology used, most touch screens fall into one of three categories:
CAPACITIVE TOUCH SCREEN:

It use glass panels that are coated with a substance that stores electrical charges. When the user touches the screen, a small amount of the charge is drawn to the point of contact and identifies the location where the screen was touched. It requires the touch of a finger and do not work with a stylus or gloved hand.
RESISTIVE TOUCH SCREENS:

It uses glass panels that are coated with a thin electrically conductive and a resistive metallic layer. When the user touches the screen, a change in electrical current is registered where the screen was touched.
SURFACE WAVE TOUCH SCREEN:

It uses glass panels with ultrasonic waves of electricity that pass over the panels.When the user touches the screen,a portion of the waves are absorbed and the location of the touch is registered.
